How to file a claim in Bulgaria

Checked on 28/09/2026

You submit a claim to the seller, orally or in writing, within two years of delivery of the goods. If it is in time, they must accept it and give you a number from the register.

Where

At the shop where you bought the goods, on the website where you ordered them, at the seller's registered address, or at any other shop of theirs in the country that does the same kind of trade. You choose the place (Article 47(3)).

What to write

The subject of the claim, how you want it resolved (repair or replacement), an amount if you are claiming one, and a contact address (Article 43(3)). Attach a receipt, an invoice, or proof of payment, and whatever shows the fault (Article 43(4)). Writing it down leaves a record. Keep a copy.

What the shop owes you

To record the claim in the register and to give you a document with the date, the number, the kind of goods, and a signature (Article 47(2)). Repair or replacement of goods without digital elements is free and due within one month of notice (Article 34(2)).

If they refuse

Filing the claim does not stop you from going to court later (Article 48). You can send a complaint to the Commission for Consumer Protection: what you asked for, when, and the register number or the refusal.
